摘要Abstract: All of living things need nitrogen (N) to make protein and nucleic acid. Although the earth is full of nitrogen, it is inert in the atmosphere and not available for living things at all, except some microorganisms capable of fixing the precious element.
Nitrogen exists in deferent forms cycling in the earth from the air to the soil, and in living things in between, organic or inorganic. This nitrogen cycle describes the entire journey of nitrogen molecule s in which nitrogen is transformed; mostly through biological and chemical processes. Fertilizer manufacturers can produce NH3 using atmospheric nitrogen as reactant under condition of high pressure and high temperature. Living things can do nitrogen fixation, ammonification, nitrification, and denitrification. For example, some bacteria form a symbiotic relationship with some plants and help fix nitrogen at the roots of plants.
